My long Sunday!

I am actually missing the Sunday service of JCOB Shizuoka ... seems i have no chance to attend this January.  My weekend is full of activities ... and seems it will continue till February ... but i am enjoying it anyway ... good to be busy for a cause.

So here's the activities...

Ryunan Culture Promotion Association's "もっとアジアを知ろう" (Know more about Asia) ---
featuring Philippine Culture and Cooking Class held in Nishina Learning Center.

Cooking time!

This was Amie, Liza, Precy and your's truly's  Philippine dish presented in the class.

After the lecture...
Thanks to Nagano san's hardwork for the DVD ... it's a compiled vid of our activities we did together in the Philippines in connection of World Zoo Art Exhibit event.
with Mochizuki san and Nagano san ...

After the Philippine culture class ... Our friend Susuki san, owner of Maganda House Home-for-the-Aged invited us to his place to see his class on care giving.

 Foreigners mostly Filipinos studying care-giving.
If there is anyone from Shizuoka who have interest to study ... please contact us!

After the visitation ... it's our private time!

 ご褒美!!!

It was really a long day ... and at night ... we proceed to our NAKAMA group's SHINENKAI.
At long last natuloy din!
Thanks to all who was able to come!
It was a simple gathering in TENGU Japanese restaurant but we all had fun!

Multicultural Fair in Shizuoka Markis

The 2nd Multicultural Fair of Shizuoka Prefecture was held last 24th of January in Shizuoka Markis.

Cheers to my NAKAMA group ... we had better presentation this time compare to what we did in Hamamatsu!!!

Another best thing that happen to me that day was the non- expected meeting
with Arakawa sensei and family ... yaaay ... i missed them a lot ... they were shopping in Markis that afternoon and they happened to passed by at the event ... Shizuoka is really too small!
What surprised me more was that Sosuke kun is no longer a baby ... hahah... this mean that there were so many things i missed in 5 years ... and congrats to the family again ... they have additional cute 4 months baby boy in the family.  How i wish i could really visit them this spring ... I missed our bondings like in Italy, Nanako's wedding and most of all i damn missed them a lot.  They are one of those friends i will never trade to anyone!  It's really right that true friendship continues to grow even over the longest distance.

Japanese chicken soup ... my style!

I'm home alone! Sometimes it's hard to be single!

Even i'm alone i need to cook and eat ... but there is nothing to cook on ref except for left over veggies and chicken meat.

So i need to invent a recipe according to what i have in ref...

So here's today challenge for me... something different... however, it turned out to be a simple, healthy and nourishing chicken soup.
This is a mildy flavored! I love this kind of clear soup ... not oily and healthy!

My ingredients:

½ lb chicken thigh, chopped bite size
1 heaped cup radish, cut bite size
1 cup carrots, cut bite size
chicken broth
2 cups spinach salt and pepper (optional, fish sauce)
3 tbsp lemon juice
umiboshi (dried Japanese plum)

How i invent ... i mean cook? :P

Boil chicken to a soup pot for about 10 minutes (skim the soup of any fats or particles and discard).
Add chicken broth ... then add radish, carrots.
Seasoned with lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Add umiboshi and spinach ... simmer for about 2 minutes.
Serve hot! Ittadakimasu!!!

Shiraito Falls in Winter

Finally... last Saturday, i got a chance to have a family date with Dang and uncle Jo!
Papie drove us to the most popular sightseeing spot in Fujinomiya,  the Shiraito Falls.  It's Dang's first time to visit the place and she was impressed to the site.
Actually, Shiraito Falls is one of the sacred cultural site of Fuji.  It was also listed in World Heritage on 2013.
Mt. Fuji view in Shiraito Falls

Otodome Falls ...  from here, 5 minutes walk to Shiraito Falls

Shiraito Falls

FYI:

Shiraito Waterfall (白糸の滝, shiraitonotaki) is in Shizuoka prefecture, located west side of Mt.Fuji. Shiraito Waterfall is about 60ft. height and 600ft. width. There are hundreds of small waterfalls and each of them look like a silk line. Shiraito means Silk thread. Water is coming from the ice of Mt. Fuji. In 1936, this waterfall is chosen a natural monument, and in 1990, it is chosen one of 100 best waterfalls in Japan.

There are many souvenir shop around Shiratori Falls

This one was my omiage... uninori (sea urchin seaweeds)!!!

After our visit to Fujinomiya ... we all had dinner steak together in SAWAYAKA.
It's New Year vacation ... seems everyone at this time had enough New Year's meal prepared at home ... so everyone wants to go out to have meal outside.
So expect how fully pack all the restaurant are!  We waited for about an hour and a half just to have our dinner.  But our long wait was worth ... were all satisfied to what we had.

After our dinner ... Dang and I had coffee date with Joy in Komeda.
Our private night out :P
